A DELIVERY driver employed with TTPost was yesterday granted bail in the sum of $300,000 when he appeared in the Port of Spain Magistrates’ Court charged with attempting to export a quantity of cocaine through the mail.
Leon Lewis, 30, of Stoer Drive, Morne Coco Road, Petit Valley, appeared before Senior Magistrate Cherril-Anne Blake in the Fourth (A) Court on two charges.
He is accused of attempting to export 632 grammes of the drug on January 27, and an additional 234 grammes on February 6, at the Wrightson Road, Port of Spain, branch of TTPost.
Lewis, who was represented by defence attorney Criston J Williams, pleaded not guilty to the offences.
Williams, in his bail application, said his client had been employed with the company for the past 12 years and that he was not a flight risk given he was not the holder of a passport.
As a condition of his bail, Williams is also required to report to the West End Police Station three times per week. Williams will return to court on March 9.
