The Sealots Legacy Foundation
Empowering and promoting the development of cities and communties, and aiming to create a peace module to accelerate the United Nation’s peace module through the alignment of the Sustainable Development Goals 2030 and the Global compact principles.
Goals
The Sealots Legacy Foundation aims to develop the community by:
Creating a section dedicated to neighborhood gatherings, activities, and ways that locals can become engaged.
Engaging other communities outside of Sealots to join the initiatives to help build their communities along side.
Through sports and general education, educate the youth and invite businesses to sponsor events and initaitves to create new avenues of development and opportunities.
Emphasize continuing community development initiatives like youth programming, social services, and infrastructural upgrades.
In alignment with SDG 11:" Make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable. " the Sealots legacy foundation will uphold Global Compact Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
Through the public health approach looking at the root causes of crime, we can a targeted plan and develop the community in a substantial meaningful way to alleviate poverty, inequality, unemployment, lack of education, substance abuse , mental health issues and community breakdown.
By promoting the following:Â
Community Engagement: Engaging the community members in decision making processes, fostering trust between residents and law enforcement and promoting community cohesion.
Early intervention and support: Identifying individuals engaging in criminal behaviour early on and providing them with support services can prevent them from entering the criminal justice system. Access to education, mental health services, substance abuse treament, job training and housing assistance are all support services that greatly reduce their chances of engaging in criminal activity.
Promoting health and Well-being:Â social determinants of health such as no access to healthcare, can indirectly reduce crime rates. Improving overall community well-being can lead to lower stress levels, substance abuse and violence.
Prevention over punishment: Preventing crime before it occurs rather than soley relying on punitive measures, Implementing strategies that address risk factors and promote protectives factors in individuals and communities.
- Highlight collaborations and projects aimed at community policing, neighborhood watch programs, and crime reduction.
- Give locals access to materials on safety advice, crime data, and ways they can make their neighborhood safer causes and reduce crime as a result.
Residents of the Sealots community have continously been stigmatized due to the crime that has been occuring around the community, due to this several unassociated persons have been branded to be involved and are denied any oppurtunities for personal development.
The Sealots Legacy foundation aims to remove the stigma by:
- Give some space to educational and awareness initiatives that try to lessen the stigma attached to particular problems like addiction, mental illness, or poverty.
- Share the testimonies and success stories of community members who have surmounted obstacles caused by stigma.
The Sealots Legacy Foundation will Undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility, in alignment with Global Compact Principle 8 : undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility and in alignment with SDG 16: Peace, justice and strong institutions.
The Sealots Legacy Foundation aims to partner with businesses to achieve:
Creating new avenues for the skilled persons in the community to get jobs or endorsements.
Help skilled persons in the community to build new businesses, in order to give back to the community.
Promote collaborations with nearby companies that fund community projects with donations, sponsorships, or volunteer labor.
Emphasize the shared advantages of these alliances and entice additional companies to join.
The Sealots Legacy Foundation will work with the established businesses in order to promote Global Compact Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery and Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining.
In alignment with SDG 17 : Partnerships for the Goals.
The Sealots Legacy Foundation educate the youth by:
- Teach the youth of the area about about trades skills, technology, culture, arts and crafts.
- Develop a youth training program for the youth to upskill, develop their trades and recieve qualitifcations to enhance their personal development.
In Alignment with SDG4: Inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all, The Sealots Legacy Foundation will encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies, Global Compact Principle 9.

Sealots is the home of many talented artists and skilled persons,Yung bredda, DJ hotty and Businesses We aim to highlight the good values of the community, develop the community structure, educate the next generation and create alternative avenues for economic development, within Sealots and surrounding participating communities.
Life in Sealots
The people of sealots have been continuously stigmatized and treated as outcasts from the rest of society in Trinidad and Tobago and as a result face many challenges, socially, economically, Infrastructurally,environmentally and educationally.
Restricted Economic possibilities
Residents' are heaily deprived access to stable jobs and economic opportunities due to area's reputation of crime. Many skilled persons in the area are denied jobs due to the stigma surrounding the area. This heavily increases poverty in the community.
Environmental Issues
Due to its low lying terrain and shoddy drainage infrastructure, Sea Lots is prone to flooding. Homes and streets are frequently flooded during heavy rainfall.
Infrastructure Deficiencies
The absence of adequate basic infrastructure, such as paved roads, sanitary facilities, and dependable electricity, has an impact on day-to-day living and health. Many residents live in substandard housing conditions, with overcrowding and inadequate housing infrastructure contributing to health and safety concerns.
Education Disparities
Educational resources and opportunities are often inadequate, impacting the quality of education available to children and youth in Sea Lots.Â
Stigmatization
The residents of Sealots push back against the perception of on going gang activity and drug related violence in their community.
