Vulnerable Persons

Refugees, asylum seekers, and vulnerable migrants in Trinidad and Tobago face heightened risks of human trafficking and exploitation due to various factors, including economic vulnerability, lack of legal protection, and limited access to essential services.  Many individuals in these communities are subjected to abuse, coercion, and exploitation, with limited avenues for recourse or support.

Governmental issues

The Trinidad and Tobago Government and associated administrations has failed to completely address the issues surrounding the migrants that are continually entering Trinidad and Tobago shores.

T&T Government

The Trinidad and Tobago Government are not properly addressing the issues surrounding the migrants and do not have system in place to protect them.

T&T Coast Guard

The migrants are exploited and abused for sexual acts by T&T coast guards.

T&T Police

The Trinidad and Tobago Police, intimidates the migrants, makes excuses to not recognize the UNHCR card, abuse them and forcefully imprison the migrants.

Venezuelan Embassy

The Venezuelan embassy forces the migrants to sign deportation orders to avoid addressing the problem.
