The International Parliament for Human Rights
The United Nations (UN) is an international organisation founded in 1945 to promote peace, security, and cooperation between nations. One of the key aspects of the UN’s work is the protection and promotion of human rights worldwide.
Parlamento Internacional Para Los Derechos Humanos (PIDH), an organisation with ECOSOC Status with the United Nations (UN). Recently, the PIDH established an American branch of its entity, the International Parliament for Human Rights (IPHR).
ECOSOC Status
The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) resolution allows civil society participation in the work of the UN. The Committee on NGOs oversees its implementation and processes all applications by civil society organisations for ECOSOC status.
The status allows NGOs to participate fully in the UN system. Without it, they are confined to the sidelines – unable to submit questions, attend UN sessions or hold side events in their own name.
The Committee on NGOs reviews applications for ECOSOC status twice a year.
The International Parliament for Human Rights Trinidad Chapter
The UN has established several bodies and mechanisms to address human rights issues, including the UN Human Rights Council and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights. These entities work to monitor and report on human rights violations, promote dialogue and cooperation, and provide technical assistance and capacity-building to states. Under the auspices of The International Parliament for Human Rights, our raison d’etre is the defence, support and dissemination of Human Rights throughout the World.
The UN celebrates the International Day of Parliamentarianism every June 30, works to improve the lives of human beings, analyses the progress achieved in the year, and schedules the following challenges and ways to work next year. They are the column of democracy, representing the expression of human beings, approving regulations and asking governments to be accountable. In the case of each parliament, benefiting all human beings equally by analysing, discussing, approving, disseminating, promoting, and carrying out agreements or treaties with the States or national and international organisations in the field of Human Rights. The PIDH collaborates through the dialogue of its parliamentarians, defenders, diplomats, and members in bringing issues to the discussion table.
