Global consensus toward clean energy
Global consensus toward clean energy
The global consensus predicated by the Compact and the SDGs is necessary because countries can no longer advance their economic growth and development in the same manner as before (through rapid industrialisation using excessive fossil fuels) without also worsening society and the environment.
If change does not occur, every company and every country will inevitably have to deal with the negative consequences, which will be reflected on their balance sheets. Small island developing states like Trinidad and Tobago all face a unique problem – they are heavily reliant on the fossil fuels that cause the environmental catastrophes they are susceptible to. Further, they cannot secure access to climate financing to facilitate the transition, significantly disrupting their economies.
The world’s response to climate change is implementing carbon border adjustment trade policies that will leave countries within the LAC region incapable of effectively trading on the international market.
More than ever, countries require affordable, low-carbon energy infrastructures. Our Company is the avenue that facilitates the clean energy transition by injecting its technical knowhow into the countries within which it operates. The renewable energy projects will attract international investors, ensure that countries like Trinidad and Tobago meet their Paris Accord commitments, and grant them access to the new and emerging sustainability market, which is worth approximately USD 12 trillion in market opportunities.
