Human Rights

The Quantum Group is dedicated to implementing the Global Compact and encouraging other private sector actors to do the same. We are committed to working against all forms of Human Rights abuse.

The Quantum Group is committed to the Universal Declaration on Human Rights and the International Labour Organisation’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. We seek to implement the key tenets of these Conventions insofar as possible within our organisation.

We undertake to implement sufficient reporting mechanisms to ensure that whistleblowers can effectively report on suspected and credible instances of any activity breaching Human Rights policies within the company and amongst external stakeholders.

We abide by all domestic legislation concerning the promotion of individual human rights and established international best practices governing this area insofar as possible. The Quantum Group acknowledges the United Nations’ fight against abuses of human rights as the business of human rights becomes commonplace in the corporate world.

We strive to implement the Global Compact Human Rights Principles within our operations (Principles 1 and 2):

  1. Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights; and
  1. Make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.

We recognise the importance of providing safeguards to employees to encourage a zero-tolerance approach to discriminatory and/ or abusive activities and uphold United Nations guidelines on this thematic area insofar as practicable for a company of our size.

The Quantum Group is committed to:

  1. Respect for and compliance with all applicable laws and international conventions to which Trinidad and Tobago is signatory which govern internationally recognised approaches to human rights;
  1. Seek avenues insofar as possible to adhere to international standards governing the protection of human rights where there is a gap in the domestic legislation;
  1. Implement relevant due diligence policies to identify, prevent and mitigate against any risk of corporate human rights abuses. Implementation shall be reviewed through the identified monitoring and evaluation methods;
  1. Protect vulnerable groups within the company’s employ.
