Trinidad and Tobago’s Key International Partnerships
Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA+)
The Global Climate Change Alliance Plus (GCCA+), a collaborative initiative involving the Government of Trinidad and Tobago, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), and the European Union (EU), is designed to bolster national efforts to lower greenhouse gas emissions and expand renewable electricity generation. As part of the project, solar energy systems will be installed across both Trinidad and Tobago. Additionally, the initiative focuses on enhancing and implementing policies, legislation, and regulatory frameworks related to renewable energy and energy efficiency. It also includes a public education and awareness campaign aimed at promoting the benefits of renewable energy adoption and energy-saving practices.
Global Offshore Wind Alliance (GOWA)
Trinidad and Tobago has joined the Global Offshore Wind Alliance, a coalition of countries and organizations dedicated to advancing offshore wind energy. This partnership facilitates knowledge exchange, capacity building, and investment in offshore wind projects, aligning with Trinidad and Tobago’s goal to diversify its energy sources and reduce carbon emissions.
Inter-American Development Bank (IDB)
The IDB has begun collaborating with Trinidad and Tobago to develop a green hydrogen economy. This includes introducing green hydrogen demonstration projects, initiating wind resource assessments, and developing business models to attract private sector investment in renewable energy.
